The Greek Life

The Social Side of Kappa Chi

Each semester is jam packed full of fun events that provide the unique blend of Greek life and ministry that has made Kappa Chi so successful to the glory of God. There is also something going on with Christian sororities Sigma Phi Lambda and Theta Alpha, not to mention hanging out with girls from sororities across campus that have seen our light for Christ and our gentlemanly ways and taken a liking to the boys of Kappa Chi. Here is a basic list of the typical events of a semester.

Football Tailgates

For each Home Football Game during the fall semester, the brotherhood throws one of our famous tailgates at the Kappa Chi House. If you are looking for some great food and fun while watching other football games on our 100 inch HD projector screen, we would encourage you to check our tailgates out. Usually over 100 people show up for the festivities and fellowship. If you want to be around a raucous bunch of Gator fans that sing as loud as we can to "We are the Boys," are pumped with school spirit for the Orange and Blue, and always have a great time in a Christ-glorifying way, we are your type of people. And did we mention the house is just a 15-minute walk to the stadium? It is great to be a Florida Gator and a Kappa Chi on gamedays.

Socials

These events are held with sororities Theta Alpha and Sigma Phi Lambda during the semester. These themed parties are a great time to meet some Christian ladies while hanging out with your brothers in Christ. Loud music, food, and good times are the norm for our socials and this year Kappa Chi is hoping to take it up a notch.

Date Functions

Date functions are used to get brothers out of their comfort zone and asking a nice Christian young lady on a group date. Date functions vary but have a social like atmosphere that provides some good laughs and some romantic sparks. We prefer the first, but see a lot of latter. Contrary to previous statements, Kappa Chi is a dating service for Christians.

UF Intramurals

Kappa Chi Brothers stay active on Campus, participating in several intramural sports including football, basketball, softball, and ultimate frisbee. We see this as a great opportunity to use our God-given competitiveness to reach a unified goal and show Christ through our actions on the field and off. The Kappa Chi Football Team doesn't like to brag, but they're really good, going undefeated in the regular season, and this year, they are looking for a championship.

Family Weekend and Dad's Day

We hold a Parents Weekend each Fall and a Dad's Day in the Spring to coincide with our Heritage Weekend for Alumni. These weekends provides parents an occasion to come up for a football game and get to know the fraternity. We meet at the Kappa Chi House where twelve brothers in the fraternity live. The house's large deck offers a great place for fellowship as Brothers, Families, and Alumni partake in a brotherhood-sponsored BBQ. This gives families a perfect opportunity to meet brotherhood leadership, brothers, other families, and alumni, as well as an opportunity to hear about the ministry and to tour the House and see how twelve brothers bonded by the blood of Christ can live together in peace and harmony, for the most part.

Formal: The Chivalry Ball

We hold a Formal Event each semester which provides for a night of dancing, fellowship and fun. Brothers take that special girl that has been on their mind on a relaxed yet romantic evening of excitement and memories. We like to show the girls what a true Christian gentleman is like. Steve's American Cafe hosted formal for Spring 2009 and provided an excellent venue in downtown-Gainesville.
