The Ministry

The Ministry Focus of Kappa Chi

Kappa Chi seeks to be internally focused on fellowship in Christ and accountability, while also be externally focused in service and outreach. Discipleship in the word of God and in prayer is the root of our ministry, and that is the vision laid upon our hearts. The brotherhood's focus is on seeking the Lord in prayer and reading of the Word in all things. We realize the necessity of discerning God's vision for our lives so that we don't end up saying "We've Wasted It" on our death beds. We seek to fulfill Galatians 6:8-9 "For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."

We provide accountability, prayer, and encouragement as we seek to fulfill the Lord's will on our Campus. We seek to hone our leadership skill-sets and use them for the Glory of God on campus and in the community. We seek the wilderness like Moses now in our lives and to own the little tasks we are called to in our faiths, so as we mature in our Faiths, God will be able to use us for greater things, to bring Glory to His Kingdom.

We seek counsel from our fathers, local elders, pastors, and priests because we realize the importance of being discipled from the most elder generation.

Prayer Nights

Weekly prayer nights are held throughout the semester encouraging brothers to lay out their hearts to God in prayer over the brotherhood, the campus, the Gainesville Community, the state of Florida, the United States, and the World. "But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33. We realize the importance of seeking God in the first part of our lives (college years) and the first part of our days.

Retreat

Our semester Three-Day Retreat is meant to intensify and accelerate our pursuit of God during the grind of school. It is meant to refresh and renew our spirits and sharpen our responsiveness to receive guidance from God. Retreats offer not only a time for the group to come together in corporate prayer, worship, and fellowship, but time for solitude where brothers can get away from the everyday demands of life. We fill our retreats with the Gospels, meditating on a wide variety of Scriptures and discipling one another. We know God honors our sacrifice and commitment to the semester retreat. We know that solitude retreats as servants of Christ are necessary and aim to install the desire to keep yearly retreats after our college years.

Service

Kappa Chi works with area churches to lend a helping hand to the "widows and orphans" of Gainesville in hopes of meeting our calling in Christ. We like to create a spirit of service within the fraternity and help the least of these in our area. Kappa Chi has several service projects throughout the semester and attempts to be a light for Jesus Christ in a dark world.

Fellowship Groups and Accountability

These groups are seen as Kappa Chi on a smaller scale. The same fellowship and love one should receive in the fraternity is simply magnified through fellowship groups. Accountability is something very special to our hearts as we seek brothers to keep each other strong in the faith and far from temptation. These groups provide the one on one personal relationships every man needs to flee from sin and run towards righteousness.
